MPSP Travel Grants

In brief: Travel Grants 2024

The Max Planck School of Photonics (MPSP) supports your travel to the Photonics Days 2024 in Jena. We offer travel fellowships to up to 10 young scientists from abroad. The amount of the fellowship depends on your location: up to 250 € for national travel and up to 500€ for international travel, based on your expenses. The cost is reimbursed after the travel.

When registering for Photonics Days Jena or applying for a travel grant, please take into account the entry requirements for Germany, including the application deadlines for visas etc.!

Who can apply?

Undergraduate and doctoral students studying and conducting research in the field of physics with a special interest in photonics in Europe.

Bachelor, Master and doctoral students are prioritized. Other career levels (e.g. Postdoc, Jun.Prof.) are given secondary consideration. A professional connection to the field of photonics through training or research is required. Disciplines such as physics, electrical engineering, chemistry, materials science and similar disciplines directly related to photonics are preferred over disciplines such as biology, medicine, etc., in which photonics plays a subordinate role.

How to apply?

Hand in a short CV and a motivational letter that answers these questions:

  • Why you want to join the Photonics Days?
  • Which part of the program interest you the most and why?

The evaluation of the letter of motivation has an impact on the selection of travel grants.

Application deadline is August 31, 2024.

Where to apply?

Send your application via e-mail to photonics@maxplanckschools.de with the subject:

"Send me to the Photonics Days!"
